A 15-foot (about 4.6 m) HDMI cable can be a practical room-length connection, but the length alone does not guarantee 4K60, 4K120, HDR or eARC. Choose the official cable category for the required mode, verify the exact model and length, then test the complete source-to-display path before mounting the TV or closing the route.
Fifteen Feet Should Match the Route, Not a Guess
Measure around furniture, wall plates and service loops rather than straight-line distance. Leave enough slack to connect equipment without pulling the port, but avoid a large coil behind the display. A right-angle plug or short secured adapter may help in a shallow recess, provided the complete chain is tested.

Check the Installation Rating Separately
A cable’s video certification and its suitability for an in-wall route are separate questions. Follow local electrical/building rules and the cable marking required for the location. Do not bury an unapproved cable or an unserviceable coupler. Test before closing the wall and provide a service path where practical.
- Avoid tight bends and crushing at furniture or brackets.
- Protect connector heads while pulling.
- Keep the cable away from moving hardware and sharp edges.
- Support the route so cable weight does not hang from HDMI ports.
Commission at the Hardest Required Mode
- Connect the final source, receiver/switch and display.
- Enable the intended 4K/HDR/VRR or audio settings.
- Run representative content long enough to reveal intermittent blanking.
- Confirm the display reports the expected mode.
- Check for sparkles, black screens, audio dropouts or fallback.
- Record the exact cable model, length and equipment chain.
If the 15-Foot Link Is Unstable
Connect the source directly to the display, remove couplers and test a short known-good cable. If the short path works, reinstall the 15-foot cable alone. A higher certified category may restore margin, but settings, receiver capability and port selection can produce the same symptoms. Change one variable at a time.
