Wireless Charging Pros and Cons: Heat, Speed and Battery Care

Wireless charging is not inherently bad for a compatible phone, but it has tradeoffs: it can create more heat and waste more energy than a well-matched wired connection, especially when the coils are misaligned. Heat and Poor Alignment Are the Main Practical Concerns

The charger transfers energy across a small air gap. A thick case, metal plate, wallet attachment or off-center placement can reduce coupling and add heat. Warmth does not automatically mean damage, but repeated high-temperature charging is not desirable. Phones may reduce or pause charging when their temperature protection activates.
