“Mini display cable” usually means a Mini DisplayPort cable or adapter. Mini DisplayPort is a compact DisplayPort connector used on some older Macs, PCs, monitors and professional devices. Identify both endpoints before buying: Mini DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort is different from Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI, and neither direction is interchangeable with an HDMI-source-to-DisplayPort converter.

Mini DisplayPort is a small rectangular connector with a keyed corner. Mini HDMI is a different HDMI-family connector with another shape and pin layout.
