“Qi2.2” is an informal market label, not the current consumer brand named by the Wireless Power Consortium. The official comparison is base Qi2, which introduced magnetic alignment and up to 15W, versus Qi2 25W, the brand for Qi specification v2.2.1 launched in July 2025. Choose by the exact certification, receiver support and power-adapter requirements—not by “Qi2.2” wording alone.

Use the Official Product Name in Specifications and Packaging
WPC identifies Qi v2.2.1 as Qi2 25W. A seller may use “Qi2.2” as shorthand, but that phrase does not tell you whether the product is certified, which power class it supports or which devices can receive the higher power. Procurement records and retail copy should name the exact Qi version or official certification scope.
Qi2 15W vs Qi2 25W
“Up to” is a system limit, not a promise that every phone will show that number. The transmitter, receiver, firmware, case, alignment, input source and thermal conditions can change the observed rate. A magnetic ring by itself is not Qi2 certification.
A Three-Step Compatibility Decision
- Check the phone: confirm native Qi2 or Qi2 25W support from the device maker or an exact certification record.
- Check the charger: verify the exact model in the WPC database and match the certification class.
- Check the power source: use the adapter and cable required by the charger manufacturer; insufficient input can limit wireless output.

Separate Four Claims That Often Get Blended Together
- Magnetic: describes attachment or alignment hardware.
- Qi compatible: needs exact scope; it is not automatically Qi2.
- Qi2 Certified: should connect to an exact WPC-certified product record.
- Up to 25W: requires the higher class plus a compatible receiver and operating conditions.
Build a Small Compatibility Matrix Before Approval
Test the same charger, cable and input adapter across the exact receiver models in scope, first without a case and then with the approved case. Change one variable per run so an alignment, input-power or thermal limit is not mislabeled as a standards failure.
Record the device-reported charging state, starting battery percentage, elapsed interval and any repeatable throttling; do not convert that observation into a universal wattage claim unless the setup measures power by an appropriate method.
