A reliable power bank is one whose exact capacity, Wh label, USB output profiles, safety documentation, construction and warranty can be verified for the model you are buying. Brand language, a large mAh number or a certification logo alone cannot prove usable output, compatibility or service life. Compare evidence first, then confirm the sample under a repeatable load.

Capacity Should Be Internally Consistent
Record rated mAh, nominal voltage and rated Wh. Verify the arithmetic with Wh = mAh × V ÷ 1,000. A mismatch does not automatically prove fraud, but it requires an explanation before purchase or approval.
Stored cell Wh is not the same as measured output Wh. A useful capacity claim identifies the output voltage, load, cutoff, cable, temperature and sample condition.

Small Physical Details Affect Daily Reliability
Check port movement, button response, display readability, cable strain relief, housing seams and whether the unit sits securely on a flat surface. For a built-in cable, confirm bend radius and replacement implications. For a heavy pack, inspect how the ports are protected during transport.
A sample’s appearance cannot establish internal cell quality or protection behavior, but it can reveal assembly and usability defects before a larger order.
Documents Must Match the Exact Model
Review the model specification, battery transport documentation, applicable safety/compliance file, USB capability declarations and warranty terms. Model names, ratings and manufacturer identity should agree across the product, label, packaging and reports.

Run a Repeatable Sample Test
- Photograph the exact sample and label.
- Record starting battery state and ambient conditions.
- Verify each advertised output profile.
- Measure output Wh at a declared voltage/load and cutoff.
- Test multi-port allocation and recharge input.
- Repeat on more than one sample when a batch decision depends on the result.
- Record any interruption, abnormal heat or physical defect without opening the battery pack.
Reliability Includes Service and Change Control
Record warranty duration, exclusions, return route and responsible supplier. For production, freeze the approved sample/BOM and require notice before cell, PCB, connector, housing or cable substitution. A passing sample cannot guarantee an undocumented later change.
If a pack is swollen, leaking, smoking, hissing or rapidly heating, stop ordinary testing and follow the power-bank safety procedure.
